Introduction
When you choose to be a human being you will
have to choice between three classes. You can
either choose between Knight, Mage or to be an
Archer.
- Knight is the defender in the human classes.
They know all melee-weapons and higher armors.
- Mage is the magic class between the humans.
She can call the power from the different elements
to assist him during the fight.
- Archer is the bow specialist in the human race.
He is skilled with all bow and crossbows and the
ranged combat is his area of expertise.
As Human you will be born in the wonderful city
of Anchorville. When you first reach the city
you will see several NPCs, some give you quests,
others are available to buy everything an adventurer
needs in ArchLord. There are also different buildings
and portals that allow you to port to other places
around the city for example.
There are different type of NPCs – The
class trainer/merchants, the crafting NPCs, the
normal merchants and finally the Quest NPCs. We
will describe their function later with the following
overview.
The first levels you have to fight with the basic
attack, after you reached level 4 you can gain
your first skill from the different trainers.
The higher your level grows the more skills are
available to you. Some are attack skills others
enhance your other abilities like agility, wisdom,
etc. Every class his own specific abilities, you
will be able to learn them with your character
progress ( see the ?Class? section at your skill
trainer).

Quest System
You get your first quest from Village
Chief Rembrandt, which should be in the middle
of the town. Go over to him and click him one
time the following window will appear.
Take note of the yellow exclamation (!)
above his head. This means the NPC has one or
more quests for you.

For now only the Quest button is interesting.

Click it and you will get the following window
with a selection of the different quests.
Read the text carefully and especially the ?Terms
and condition part? as it tells you more exactly
what to do. Once you press Accept
the quest will appear in your quest list, which
is available with the ?Q? button
on your keyboard and a window will tell you that
you received the quest.

1. The general quest name.
2. The current quest step.
3. Quest-step name and quest giver.
4. Terms and condition for completion, closer
description of what to do.
5. Reward for completion.
So your first quest is the task to kill 5 green
worms outside of Anchorville.
Go out to the south entrance and you will find
some groups of them. With every killed worm a
window will appear and tell you your current quest
status ( killed/ overall ).
When you kill monsters there is a chance for
gold, potions, and various other items to drop.
The loot will appear on the ground near the dead
body of the monster. To pick up your loot place
your cursor over the item, the cursor will change
to the image of a hand, when that happens left
click or just press the space bar
and you will pick up the item.
The name of items being displayed is a feature
that can be toggled on and off. If you want to
see the names of items on the ground, press the
ALT key on your keyboard. If you no longer wish
to see the names, press the ALT key again to turn
off the names.
Tip : Make sure you collect
your loot quickly! The loot will disappear if
it stays on the ground for too long.
When you finished killing them, If you did not
reach the next level already, go kill one or two
more mobs to gain level two before you return.

With every level this window will tell you what
new enhancement you gained with it.
Now go back to the town to complete your first
quest.
Go to Village chief Rembrandt again and left-click
him. Take note of the yellow (?)
above Rembrandt?s head. This symbol means you
have met the requirements to complete one of your
quests.
Open his quest window and select the quest you
have completed earlier. Now click the Complete
button and you can be proud on yourself as you
have completed your first quest!

Sometimes when you complete a quest it will grant
you access to a new quest. To accept this new
quest, left click on the name, read the information
supplied on the right side of the quest window,
and then click the accept button.
You are now ready to start more quests as they
will appear on the NPCs. Some will need you to
collect certain things from the surrounding, others
will need you to kill some mobs, etc ....
4.
Merchants and Buying
Once you did some more quests you
will find out that you need some more Health and/or
Mana potions. This is the right time to visit
the merchant as you should have earned some gold
through the monsters you killed for your quest.
Visiting a merchant works like with the quest
NPCs. Go over to the merchant and left-click him.
Then select ?Buy/Sell? and the
following window will open.

You can see different items available for you.
When you leave your mouse cursor on the item it
will show a closer description and also the price.
To buy an item just drag and drop it to your
inventory. You will be asked if you really want
to purchase the item. Buy ten or more potions
and press OK. You can do this right-clicking on
any desired item.
To sell an item, drag the item from your invetory
to the NPC Store window. Right click will work
to.
Please note that you have an extra merchant
for your class where you can buy specialised armor
and weapons for your class. Normal merchants don’t
sell armor parts.
It’s up to you to buy new items for your
character but, since you’re not a millionaire
in the beginning of the game, take care that you
don’t run out of money as you will need
it for potions.
When you finish your first quests, you will gain
some Armor parts with one of them. To equip the
armor you just gained or bought, open up you Inventory
(I) and your Character window
(C).
You can see the requirements when you move your
mouse over the item. Some are class based while
others you can only wear according to your race.

Choose a part which you want to equip and drag
and drop it your your character window. It will
automatically find its desired slot. You can also
use doble-click for this.

5.
Skill Trainers (> lvl 4)
When you reach level 4 you can finally learn
your first skill from your trainer. Go over to
your dedicated trainer and open up the conversation
window. Select Skill and the
following window will open.

You now have only the choice of one skill in
the Combat part. To learn it select the skill
( Dual shot in this example) and press Learn.
A window will appear asking you if you really
want to learn this skill. So press Yes,
we definitely want to learn this skill now. To
learn a skill you must have at least 1 skill point,
the correct level, and enough gold.
Tip : Just like items, skills
also have an information popup. Place your cursor
over the skill and wait for
the information to be displayed.
As you can see above, you have different classes
of skills:
· There
are Combat related skills which are good attacks.
· The Buff line includes
several skills that temporary boost you or your
attributes or weaks the enemies.
· The Class line is totally
class restricted and gives you certain skills
that only your class is able to use.
· The Passive line acts
like her name says totally passive, you have skills
that permanently increase certain abilities like
Agility, Wisdom, Critical hit rate ...
Now that you learned your first skill you’re
nearly ready to use it. To do so press the ?K?
button to bring up the Combat skill window. You
will see now the different lines including the
skills you already learned.
To prepare a skill for usage just drag and drop
it from the Skill window into your skill bar in
the middle of the bottom of your screen. For example:
If you drag the skill into slot 6, you can use
the button ?6? on your keyboard
to active the skill. But you can also right click
a skill in the skill-bar to activate it.
Crafting is useful as you can create meals that
give you several boost, for example a health or
attack
boost or you can create potions to morph you into
a lot of creatures, for example Goblins, Spiders
or
Wolfs. Once you reach level 7 you are ready to
gain the first loot skill from NPC Adventurer
Kauman.
Look for him in Anchorville and start a conversation
with him. Press the option Manufacture
and a new window will pop-up.

Ransacking is the first skill
you’re able to learn. As you can see in
the description you gain the possibility to loot
monsters to gain Items you can use for cooking
and Alchemy.
To learn it just press Learn
like you did earlier at your skill trainer. There
is also a requirement to start ransacking, you
need a Gathering Knife which you can purchase
from Merchant Darryl and others.
When you have bought the skill and the knife,
you will also need to drag the Ransacking skill
into your skill bar. To do that open the Craft
skill window which can be opened with ?J?
on your keyboard. To learn the Ransacking skill
you need to be level 7 and have 300 gold.
Cooking
gives us the possibility to create meals that
assist and boost our abilities, for example a
Health boost or an enhancement to your attack
rate. To gain the cooking skills, cooking tools
and
recipes you have to visit a NPC Cook that are
located in every bigger city. Here in Anchorville
its Cook
Lucy. You can purchase the basic cooking skill
there which you will need to create all the meals
you
will learn as you progress in this skill. To learn
the cooking skill you need to be level 10 and
have 500
gold.
Alchemy
is first available with level 15 and gives you
the possibility to create Metamorphosis potions
which are able to morph you into a lot of creatures.
If you want to learn the required skills you need
to visit an Alchemist and learn the basic Alchemy
skill and buy yourself an Alchemy cauldron.
To be able to collect the needed ressources for
the potions you have to learn further Loot skills
from the adventurer. Once you learned the skills
you will need to loot the creatures, you kill
to gain items which are needed for the potions.
To learn the Alchemy skill you must be level 15
and have 1,000 gold.
Like the Loot skills, basic Alchemy and Cooking
skills are available in your Crafting Skill window
(J) and you also have to drag
them to your skill bar.
6.
Blacksmith
Every town has its own NPC Blacksmith where you
can repair and upgrade your items. Every item
has
a certain durability which will decrease the more
you fight. You have to take care that your items
are
always in a good condition or you will risk that
they will break and with that you will lose them.
In
Anchorville, for example, visit Blacksmith Halo.
To repair, drag you items into the Repair Items
window and press Repair.

To upgrade a weapon drag the selected
weapon to the upper slot and a Reinforcement potion
to the lower. Now press Buff basic level
and you will receive an upgraded weapon.
7.
Safe Keeper
Another useful NPC is Safe Keeper
Holly. This NPC allows you to store gold and items
which can be accessed by every character on your
account.
Drag and drop any item into storage
that you want to keep safe, or transfer to another
character on your account. To store your gold
click on the Deposit button and
type in the amount you wish to store.

By default you only have the first
section of the warehouse open. If you need additional
space you will have to purchase expansion slots.
To do this you must click on the Expand
button and pay the fee.
8.
Auction House
The Auction House is a wonderful
place where to buy items from other players all
over the server. Left click on any Item Trader
NPC to bring up their conversation window, and
then click on the Auction House button.
All the items are organized by type
and get more specific as you expand the sections.
For example: Starting with the normal
weapon section and then expanding the One-Handed
Axe section would display all of the normal one
handed axes. You can check the information about
any item for sale by placing your curser over
the name of the item and waiting for the information
popup, just like a normal merchant. If you are
interested in an item, and you can afford it,
click on the item and then confirm your desire
to purchase the item when the confirmation window
comes up. Click cancel if you made a mistake or
changed your mind.
9.
Beauty Artist
Merchants and skill trainers aren’t
the only useful NPCs in town. The beauty artist
Gladiol will allow you to change your character’s
appearance at Anchorville. Your hair and face
can be changed at any time by going to a beauty
artist. Left click on the NPC and then click on
the Change Character Appearance
button.

The character
customization screen allows you to select hair
and face styles that aren’t available to
you during character creation. Some of the styles
have level requirements, and some of them cost
gold. Click on any item in the list to see how
it looks on your character before you purchase
the
change. When you have found the styles you want
click the purchase button.
10.
Animal Breeder
When you reach level 35 you will be able to purchase
his offers. For example in Anchorville it is NPC
Animal Breeder Fosteros who will serve your needs.
He offers you a range of mounts with different
attributes and also additional weapons for these
mounts.
Every race has its own type of mounts, the humans
for example are able to ride different horses.
As you can see, the most basic mount requires
the character to be level 35. You won’t
be able to get a mount when you first start playing,
but it’s something to look forward to.
11.
Elemental stones
With the time you will encounter
other items that are dropped by monsters. Some
of them are the elemental stones. These stones
can be used to upgrade your weapons and armor.
Not every armor can be upgrade with these stones.
There must be an open slot to be able to use these
stones on the Armor/Weapon. These slots are always
on the bottom of the item description, in the
beginning most items have one or two slots.

To use one of the stones you found, just drag
it on the weapon in your inventory.
Here you can see an axe enhanced with a Water
Elemental Stone:

Additional tips
· Quests rewards can
be very useful to your character, if you enjoy
doing quests you should keep
checking around town for new quests. Additional
quests become available as to level up and complete
quests.
· When you are hunting
you should consider joining, or forming a party.
Party members automatically
loot items, which saves time and prevents the
loss of items due to decay. Additionally when
you are in
a party you gain a bonus to your HP and MP, which
is always helpful.
· You shouldn’t
wander too far away from the starting town during
your first few levels. Monsters get
progressively harder the further away from town
you are.
· When you reach level
6 the world becomes more dangerous. You will suffer
an EXP debt when you
die and respawn in a town. Also when you reach
level 6 you will be able to attack other players,
and
other players will be able to attack you.
· Never share your account
information with other players.
· Never loan your items
to another player unless you are absolutely sure
you can trust that person to
return the item.
